EssilorLuxottica Acquires Canadian Med-Tech Innovator Cellview
On February 11, 2025, EssilorLuxottica announced its acquisition of Cellview Imaging Inc, a Canada-based start-up known for its advanced retinal imaging technology. This move aims to enhance EssilorLuxottica's portfolio in ophthalmic instruments and strengthen its presence in the med-tech sector.
Cellview, based in Toronto, specializes in diagnostic imaging solutions, providing ultra-widefield retinal cameras. These tools, which are already FDA and CE approved, offer eyecare specialists a broader view of the retina, critical for diagnosing retinal pathologies. While currently distributed in North America, EssilorLuxottica plans to expand Cellview's market reach, starting in Europe.
