Eurobattery Minerals and Boliden Sign Non-Binding Offtake Agreement for Copper
On August 28, 2024, Eurobattery Minerals AB announced a non-binding offtake agreement with Boliden AB for its Hautalampi battery mineral project in Finland. The agreement, valid for at least ten years, is a significant step for the company and aims to ensure the carbon-zero production of raw materials.
The deal involves the supply of copper concentrates from Eurobattery’s subsidiary, FinnCobalt Oy. Boliden will handle these concentrates at its smelters in Harjavalta, Finland, and Rönnskär, Sweden. CEO Roberto García Martinez emphasized the milestone this represents for Eurobattery Minerals and highlighted the strategic alignment between both companies.
The Hautalampi project is located in the Outokumpu Mining Camp Area and covers 277 hectares. Expected to produce 500,000 tonnes of ore annually, the project has a mine life of over 12 years. Boliden, known for its commitment to sustainable metals, sees this partnership as part of its overarching vision to be a climate-friendly metal provider.
