European Industry Alliance Aims for Hydrogen Market through H2Med Corridor
Thyssenkrupp Nucera and nearly twenty European firms have formed an alliance to establish the H2Med Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor. This coalition includes companies from France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain, targeting a unified European hydrogen market. The objective is to link hydrogen production, storage, and consumption across regions, accelerating the rollout by the early 2030s, and supporting industrial decarbonization.
The initiative aims to create a robust hydrogen value chain extending from the Iberian Peninsula to Northwestern Europe. This aligns with EU goals such as the European Green Deal, pushing for a climate-neutral Europe fueled by renewable hydrogen.
Dr. Werner Ponikwar, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Nucera, highlighted the importance of infrastructure expansion for the hydrogen economy. The alliance comprises prominent firms and was formally announced at an event in Madrid attended by key government representatives.
