First Historic Collaboration Between Chief Engravers for a Coin Commemorating Liberty and Britannia
GovMint, one of the leading direct-to-consumer retailers of collectible coins, announces the availability of gold and silver proofs featuring a remarkable design that highlights Liberty and Britannia. These historical themes, often depicted on coins from the United States and Great Britain, are brought together for the first time in a unified design. The proofs were struck at The Royal Mint, with companion versions minted at the U.S. Mint set to be available soon.
This release marks an unprecedented collaboration between two historical Mints, combining the talent and skills of their respective Chief Engravers, Joseph F. Menna from the U.S. Mint and Gordon Summers from The Royal Mint, to create a design celebrating the harmony between Liberty and Britannia. The obverse, created by renowned British designer Martin Jennings, features the first official portrait of King Charles III. Each coin is securely encapsulated with exclusive labels bearing the signatures of key numismatists involved in this release.
David J. Ryder, former Director of the U.S. Mint, highlights the significance of this project, one of the last he approved, as an international collaboration effort. He commends both Mints for the achievement of this one-of-a-kind coin.
