First Phosphate chooses Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean for its iron phosphate plant

First Phosphate Corp announces the establishment of its iron phosphate plant, "First Saguenay", in La Baie, Quebec. This plant, with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year, is dedicated to the production of active cathode materials for LFP batteries.

The project could generate a hundred technology jobs in the region. Supported by local stakeholders such as Promotions Saguenay and the Chamber of Commerce, the plant should contribute to regional economic development.

The initial investment is estimated at USD 65 million. The site benefits from a strategic location close to the Port of Saguenay and connected to the North American rail network. Production will begin in 2026, to meet the growing demand in the battery sector.
