October 1, 2024 - Manitou Group, a global leader in handling, aerial work platforms, and earth-moving sectors, has begun constructing a new mechanical welding plant in Candé, Maine-et-Loire. This €60 million investment will bring a crucial manufacturing stage in-house, reinforcing Manitou's market position.
Manitou President & CEO Michel Denis and Board Chairman Jacqueline Himsworth laid the foundation stone. The 74,000 m² site includes 20,000 m² of industrial buildings and aligns with the New Horizons 2025 strategic roadmap. The plant features 6,000 m² of solar panels and energy management systems.
Production is slated for early summer 2026, addressing growth in Europe and the U.S. Sylvain Jaguelin, VP of Aerial Work Platform PU, highlighted the integration of mechanical welding as a move to optimize production and better handle demand peaks while maintaining relationships with historical suppliers.
