Five Star Holding Announces New CEO, Alex Huis in 't Veld

Five Star Holding, a pioneering company in sustainable packaging solutions, has announced the retirement of its CEO Michael S. Ukropina. Alex Huis in ‘t Veld, previously President of Five Star, has officially taken over the role since May 3, 2024. Alex brings extensive experience, having served as COO of both Polytex and StarPak, along with a notable tenure at Polytex which saw significant growth under his leadership.

Michael S. Ukropina expressed satisfaction with his tenure, highlighting the company's growth and resilience through challenging times such as the COVID pandemic. Alex Huis in ‘t Veld expressed enthusiasm about his new role and the company’s position in the pet food sector, driven by leadership in sustainability initiatives. He acknowledged the mentorship from Michael and his anticipation for pushing the company's legacy of innovation further.

Michael’s career spans over 30 years, starting at International Paper and transitioning through significant roles, including CEO at AGI-Shorewood and SVP at Graphic Packaging. He joined Five Star in 2018 and will continue to serve as a consultant. Meanwhile, Alex's prior experience includes notable financial and operational leadership roles at DSM before his tenure at Five Star.
