Flughafen Wien AG Reports Increase in Passenger Numbers and Earnings in H1 2024
Flughafen Wien AG experienced significant growth in the first half of 2024, registering 18.7 million passengers, a 10.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue surged by 14.1% to €488.4 million, and EBITDA rose by 15.5% to €204.9 million. The company saw a 23.2% increase in EBIT, reaching €138.7 million, and a 31.1% rise in group net profit, totaling €108.4 million.
July 2024 marked a milestone with 4.4 million passengers in the Flughafen Wien Group, exceeding pre-crisis levels. Vienna Airport alone handled 3.3 million passengers, a 5.7% increase, and set a new single-day record on July 26 with 115,989 passengers.
Flughafen Wien Group anticipates surpassing 39 million passengers in 2024, with revenue projected to exceed €1 billion. Investments are also underway, including a €200 million expansion project and the construction of a new hotel set to begin in September. Additionally, a new, solar-powered 350 KW electric charging station will be available by the end of August.
The strategic investments in Malta and Kosice airports also showed positive trends. Malta Airport handled 4.1 million passengers, a 18.4% increase, while Kosice Airport saw a 9.4% rise, reaching 269,365 passengers in H1 2024.
