FLYHT and NOAA Expand Collaboration to Improve Weather Forecasting

CALGARY, AB / ACCESSWIRE / August 14, 2024 / FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. ("FLYHT") announced that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has chosen to purchase additional weather sensors from FLYHT. This purchase, valued at approximately US$465,000, aims to improve the U.S. National Weather Service's (NWS) forecasting capabilities.

The new order forms part of a 2023 agreement where NOAA integrates FLYHT-WVSS-II sensors with FLYHT's Certus SatCom and AFIRS Edge systems for real-time data transmission. The hardware will be installed by early 2025, enhancing data collection during various flight phases. This effort aims to address data gaps, particularly over the Pacific.

Murray Skelton, FLYHT's VP Business Development and Weather Solutions, expressed the company's commitment to supporting NOAA and the NWS. This collaboration aims to improve weather forecasting and increase the observational network over key areas.
