Fonroche Street Lights Selected for Clark County's Las Vegas Neighborhoods

Las Vegas has long been known as "The City of Light," yet many neighborhoods have struggled with lighting due to persistent wire theft. Seeking a solution, local government officials partnered with Fonroche Lighting America. The Texas-based company, known for its SmartLight solar lighting systems, has now illuminated areas near Palm and E. Louis Street.

Solar street lights offer numerous advantages. They avoid copper wiring, thus reducing the risk of theft. Additionally, they provide municipalities with greater independence and cost savings due to the absence of trenching and underground wiring. The sustainable technology ensures that the lights remain operational even during power outages.

The Fonroche SmartLight system is designed to endure extreme temperatures and weather conditions, thanks to a specially formulated battery and onboard anti-blackout controls. This technology guarantees year-round, all-night lighting. Fonroche has also integrated an internal tracker to locate missing units, although theft is unlikely.

Streetlighting plays a crucial role in enhancing community safety, supporting public transportation, promoting healthy activities, and improving property values. In disadvantaged neighborhoods, where lighting has traditionally been limited, solar streetlights offer a simple and cost-effective solution for equitable lighting.

Clark County officials plan to closely monitor the newly installed streetlights and consider expanding the project. Many other communities are also turning to solar solutions to address issues like wire theft and power outages. This initiative represents a straightforward and economical approach to improving public infrastructure.
