FOOSA Festival Announces 2024 Summer Program
The FOOSA Festival/Fresno Summer Orchestra Academy (FOOSA) has announced its 2024 summer program. This classical music festival will feature eight concerts over two weeks in Fresno and Los Angeles, highlighting renowned musicians from around the globe.
In collaboration with Fresno State and the Youth Orchestras of Fresno, the festival includes workshops, master classes, private lessons, rehearsals, and recitals. Highlight events will take place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the William Saroyan Theater in Fresno.
Under the direction of Dr. Thomas Loewenheim, the FOOSA Philharmonic has gained recognition for its performances of Romantic-era music and contemporary premieres. This summer, the orchestra will perform Karol Szymanowski's "Concert Overture" and Gustav Mahler's "Seventh Symphony."
The festival's mission is to attract pre-professional students from around the world, with a focus on young musicians from California's Central Valley, fostering a global music community.
