Friedrich Vorwerk Secures Major Contract for South German Pipeline Expansion

Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE has announced the acquisition of a significant contract by terranets bw. This contract involves the construction of three additional sections of the South German natural gas pipeline (SEL). The project is valued in the high double-digit million range and spans 43 kilometers from Heilbronn to Esslingen am Neckar.

Previously, the joint venture consisting of Friedrich Vorwerk Group and Austrian HABAU Group successfully completed a 24-kilometer section of the pipeline. The SEL project, with a total length of 250 kilometers, aims to connect modern gas-fired power plants and eventually transports hydrogen by 2030, contributing to CO2-neutral energy supply in the Rhine-Neckar region and Stuttgart area.

The full completion of the newly awarded sections is scheduled for the end of 2025. This expansion is part of a broader effort to enhance Germany's natural gas and hydrogen infrastructure, signaling continued demand in the energy sector for such projects.
