Friedrich Vorwerk to Build 10 MW Electrolysis Plant in Emden
Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE has secured a contract with Statkraft, a Norwegian energy company, to construct a 10 MW electrolyzer at Emden, Lower Saxony. The project aims to produce green hydrogen, employing the proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology, a field where Friedrich Vorwerk has notable experience.
The electrolyzer is envisaged to be operational by 2027, generating approximately 200 kg of green hydrogen per hour, to support the regional transport sector through local hydrogen filling stations. This initiative is part of a broader hydrogen network development in Germany, enhancing the nation's hydrogen transport infrastructure.
With an approved hydrogen core network over 9,000 km, the project is a key step for hydrogen scalability. Friedrich Vorwerk's expertise in pipeline and large-scale plant construction positions it well for future hydrogen demand surges.
