Fuel loading started at the Flamanville EPR
On May 8, 2024, EDF began loading the fuel assemblies into the reactor vessel of the Flamanville EPR, following the commissioning authorization issued by the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN). This operation, marking a crucial step for the start-up of the EPR, will continue over several days with a total of 241 fuel assemblies.
After loading, EDF will carry out a series of start-up, control and test operations over several months. These activities will take place under the rigorous control of ASN, ensuring safety and compliance. The networking of the production unit is planned for summer 2024, which will contribute to national electricity capacity.
