GameSquare’s Stream Hatchet Analyzes Q1 2024 Live-Streaming Trends
Stream Hatchet, a subsidiary of GameSquare Holdings (NASDAQ:GAME), released its first quarter report for 2024, detailing a significant rise in live-streaming viewership. The report highlighted a 10% increase in hours watched compared to the first quarter of 2023, totaling 8.2 billion. This growth indicates a strong recovery in the live-streaming sector post-pandemic.
The analysis revealed that seven of the top ten streamed games experienced an average growth of 31% in viewership. Among the platforms, Twitch and YouTube Gaming continued to expand their user base, while Steam emerged as a standout with a doubling of its viewership hours. Additionally, in South Korea, the new platform Chzzk contributed to AfreecaTV surpassing Twitch.
Notably, the game "Palword" led the Q1 game launches with an impressive 95 million hours watched in its first 30 days, substantially outperforming last year's major release, "Hohwarts Legacy".
