GameSquare's Stream Hatchet Reports Q3 2024 Surge in Gaming Viewership
Stream Hatchet, a subsidiary of GameSquare Holdings, has published its Q3 2024 report highlighting a notable increase in gaming and live-streaming viewership. This quarter, the sector amassed 8.5 billion hours watched, marking a 12% rise from the previous year, driven by platforms such as Kick and YouTube Gaming. CEO Justin Kenna noted the shift in entertainment engagement, emphasizing live streaming’s role in the growing creator economy.
The report identifies several key findings. Esports viewership rose by 8%, influenced by events like MPL Indonesia Season 14, with esports now accounting for one-fifth of total live-streaming hours. YouTube Gaming increased its market share to 23%, while Kick saw a 163% surge in hours watched, despite Twitch's market share slipping to 60% as rivals gain traction. Spanish-language content also saw substantial growth, especially on Kick.
