Gascogne half-year results: Decline in activity in 2024
Groupe Gascogne recorded a 14.8% drop in its turnover in the first half of 2024, reaching €194.5 million. This decrease is attributed to weak demand and a drop in sales prices in line with the market. EBITDA contracted to €7.4 million, particularly impacted by the temporary shutdown of the MAP3 paper machine.
The varied performances of the various Gascogne activities marked this half-year. The Wood activity saw an improvement in EBITDA thanks to the recovery in sawing volumes. On the other hand, the Paper activity recorded a negative EBITDA of €7.0 million due to the production shutdown. The Bags and Flexible activities experienced various declines in performance, despite the resilience of the latter.
On the financial front, the group has strengthened its financing strategy for its major project: the new paper machine. The increase in net debt to €152.6 million reflects this commitment.
