Gerresheimer Expands Glass Syringe Production in Skopje
Gerresheimer AG, a key player in the pharma, biotech, and cosmetics industries, is enhancing its Skopje, North Macedonia site with a new production hall for glass syringes. This expansion represents an investment of over EUR 100 million and is expected to create approximately 250 new jobs, doubling its workforce in the region. The company plans to begin syringe production by the end of 2024.
The new facility will add 7,600 m² to the existing 14,600 m² production area, allowing Gerresheimer to integrate glass and plastic production in one location. This strategic move is part of the company’s long-term development goals and offers room for future expansion, with an additional 100,000 m² available for growth. The site will utilize cutting-edge technology for quality assurance, including AI-based systems.
Located near North Macedonia's international airport, the Skopje site benefits from good infrastructure and proximity to Mediterranean ports. Gerresheimer collaborates with local universities to recruit skilled workers, with many employees trained in Germany.
