Global Leaders Convene for World Internet Conference Asia-Pacific Summit
The inaugural World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit in Hong Kong attracted approximately 1,000 participants from various regions to discuss advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. Held outside Mainland China for the first time, this summit, themed "Integration of AI and Digital Technologies Shaping the Future," underscores Hong Kong's pivotal role as a connector between China and global markets.
John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, highlighted Hong Kong's position as an innovation and technology hub, attributing its success to a dynamic economy and a strategic "one country, two systems" framework. This setting provides Hong Kong with access to opportunities in Mainland China, paired with its robust legal, trade, and informational systems.
The summit included dialogues between government and industry leaders, discussing the integration of I&T to boost economic growth. Notable discussions covered AI's transformational role, digital infrastructure development, and Hong Kong's strategic initiatives to advance its AI industry. Sub-forums addressed major topics like digital finance and smart government applications.
