Global Ports Holding Wins Bid for Casablanca Cruise Port Concession

Global Ports Holding Plc (GPH), identified as the largest independent cruise port operator globally, has been declared the preferred bidder for managing the Casablanca cruise terminal. This decision was reached after a competitive tender process. A consortium led by GPH, with a 51% stake, alongside Steya holding 40%, and Ocean Infrastructures Management with 9%, will be entering a 15-year concession agreement with Agence Nationale des Ports (ANP) for the operation of this new terminal.

Casablanca stands as Morocco's largest city, offering a mix of traditional and modern experiences for cruise visitors. The city is not only significant for its cultural attractions but also serves as a pivotal cruise gateway to other Moroccan gems like Rabat and Marrakech. Notably, Marrakech will become more accessible with the completion of a new bullet train project, aimed at being operational before the joint Morocco, Spain, and Portugal 2030 FIFA World Cup. The city's upgraded cruise port facilities, which recently saw a EUR 60 million investment for enhanced infrastructure, are poised to handle larger vessels and more passengers, showcasing its readiness to meet growing tourist demands.
