Global Textile and Fashion Industry Gathers in Uzbekistan for 2024 Conference
Samarkand, Uzbekistan, will host a joint conference of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) and the International Apparel Federation (IAF) from September 8-10, 2024. This marks the first time the two federations will hold their events together, focusing on innovation, cooperation, and regulation in the textile and apparel industry.
The conference will officially start on September 7 with the ITMF board meeting. Over 500 representatives from global organizations, textile companies, brands, financial institutions, and retailers are expected to attend. Discussions will cover artificial intelligence, regulation, digitalization, ESG, and supply chains.
Notable speakers include Stephen Lamar, President of the American Apparel & Footwear Association, Dirk Vantyghem, General Director of EURATEX, and representatives from Cotton Analytics (USA) and Indorama Corporation (Singapore). The event will also feature the ITMF Awards Session, announcing winners for the ITMF Innovation & Sustainability Award 2024 and the ITMF International Cooperation Award 2024.
Organized with the Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association (Uztextileprom), this event underscores Uzbekistan’s growing role in the global textile supply chain. The country has seen its textile exports grow significantly, reaching about $3.5 billion last year. The aim is to increase exports to $6.5 billion by the end of 2026, highlighting the importance of international cooperation and dialogue.
