Golding’s Secondaries Strategy Strengthens ESG Approach
Golding Capital Partners, a leading asset manager for alternative investments in Europe, has refined its ESG screening model, extending full ESG transparency to its secondary market products. The Golding Secondaries 2022 fund now classifies as an Article 8 investment product under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
This classification is attributed to the enhanced ESG screening process, verifying required ESG characteristics at the portfolio company level. Golding’s scoring model incorporates leading ESG guidelines and the concept of double materiality, creating a strong basis for transparency.
Christian Schütz, Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Investing, highlighted the collaboration between internal ESG experts, secondaries experts, GPs, and external specialists as key to this achievement. Richard Wilmes, Partner and Head of Secondaries, confirmed no changes to the investment strategy of the fund.
The fund, targeting €500 million, will invest in a diversified buyout portfolio of over 100 small and mid-cap companies, focusing on resilient sectors such as IT, communications, and services. The final fundraising phase is set to close by the end of 2024.
