Google and ENGIE Enhance Partnership with New Power Purchase Agreements in Belgium
Google and ENGIE have signed a series of new Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (cPPAs) to supply over 118 MW of renewable power to Google’s infrastructure in Belgium. This collaboration aims to support Google’s operations and expansion in the region.
The agreements include the full production of four new onshore wind farms, representing 26 MW, and an extension of an existing 92 MW cPPA from another wind park. ENGIE will thus provide around 3.7 TWh of carbon-free energy, contributing to Google’s net-zero emission goals and 24/7 carbon-free energy ambition by 2030.
These deals reinforce ENGIE’s leadership in the PPA market, having sold 2.4 GW of green electricity to industries in 2023 through 34 deals across six markets. ENGIE’s #ENERGIZE2030 strategy in Belgium focuses on accelerating renewable energy development up to 2.5 GW by 2030.
Vincent Verbeke, CEO of ENGIE Belgium, expressed pride in supporting Google’s sustainability goals, while Frederic Descamps, Google’s Data Center Lead in Belgium, highlighted the importance of their partnership in achieving carbon-free operations.
