Granite Creek Collaborates on Geologic Hydrogen Research

Granite Creek Copper Ltd. announced the completion of its work at the copper-nickel-PGM Star project in British Columbia. The company partnered with New England Research Inc. (NER) to explore geologic hydrogen production. Samples from the site, featuring dunite ultramafic rock, have been sent for analysis to determine their potential for Ni-Cu-PGM mineralization and geologic hydrogen.

NER, involved in a $1.5 million U.S. Department of Energy project, will use these samples to design methods for stimulating subsurface hydrogen. The collaboration aims to develop technology to support clean energy and decarbonization.

NER's team, including experts from Missouri University and OptiRock Group, will create testing protocols and models to evaluate hydrogen production sites. The results could lead to the commercialization of new technologies and further funding for field demonstrations.
