Grid Metals Corp. Discovers Nickel Sulfide at Makwa
Grid Metals Corp. has announced a new nickel sulfide surface discovery at its Makwa project in Manitoba. This discovery, termed the Pavo Anomaly, is part of a joint venture with Teck Resources Limited. Initial exploration unveiled semi-massive nickel sulfide mineralization at the site, with samples showing nickel concentrations as high as 1.1%.
The Pavo Anomaly is located within the Bird River Sill, similar geologically to Ontario's Eagle's Nest deposit. The initial fieldwork was briefly interrupted by forest fires, but further prospecting has resumed. Grid plans to conduct a comprehensive geophysical survey and drilling this fall, following the lifting of regional fire restrictions and receipt of necessary permits.
Dr. Dave Peck, VP of Exploration at Grid, highlighted the significance of this finding, considering its geological context. The aim is to extensively explore Makwa for potential high-grade nickel-copper-PGE deposits.
