Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe to chair TradeMark Africa Board of Directors

TradeMark Africa (TMA) has announced the appointment of H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Desalegn succeeds Ambassador Erastus Mwencha, after eight years in office. The appointment comes as TMA expands its operations, aimed at boosting African exports and strengthening the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

TMA’s new strategy, covering the period 2023-2030, focuses on reducing transport costs and times and improving market access for SMEs. Desalegn brings valuable expertise through his experience in trade policy and economic diplomacy.

The new President will also lead the upcoming Trade Development Forum (TMA-TDF) in Kigali, Rwanda on 2-3 December 2024. This forum will highlight digital trade in Africa.
