HHLA Secures Majority Stake in Ukrainian Eurobridge Terminal
Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is expanding its presence in Ukraine by acquiring a 60% stake in Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal LLC, located in Batiovo. This move signifies HHLA's strategic emphasis on Ukraine's role as a hub for continental container transport and strengthens its stance in European rail freight transport.
The terminal, rebranded as "HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo," will be a joint venture between HHLA International GmbH and Fortior Capital LLC. The transaction is subject to approval by Ukrainian competition authorities. The facility aims to establish a robust intermodal corridor between the EU and Ukraine, enhancing economic integration.
Scheduled to start container operations in late 2025, the terminal is strategically located at a key junction for freight traffic connecting Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia. It offers access to both standard and broad gauge tracks, facilitating a seamless link between the European and Ukrainian logistics networks.
