Hansoh Pharma's Olatorepatide Shows Promise in Weight Loss Study

At the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Milan, Hansoh Pharma unveiled promising Phase III data on Olatorepatide. The dual-biased GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist demonstrated significant weight loss efficacy in the Chinese Phase III LIGHTEN study. Participants receiving 15mg weekly doses experienced an average weight loss of 19.3% after 48 weeks, with a notable 16.0cm reduction in waist circumference.

The study involved 604 Chinese adults with a BMI ≥28kg/m², or 24–28kg/m² with weight-related comorbidities. Participants receiving Olatorepatide showcased statistically significant weight reduction across various doses compared to placebo, with minimal gastrointestinal side effects. The data reflect substantial metabolic benefits, enhancing parameters like blood pressure and glycated hemoglobin.

Hansoh Pharma aims to position Olatorepatide as an innovative weight management therapy, with safety levels aligned with existing incretin-based therapies. Currently under review by China's National Medical Products Administration, it holds potential for treating type 2 diabetes. Hansoh's collaboration with Regeneron underscores the drug's international development prospects.
