Hapag-Lloyd Adjusts Earnings Forecast After Strong Nine-Month Performance
Hapag-Lloyd AG has announced an upward revision of its earnings outlook for 2024 after reporting strong preliminary results for the first nine months. The company recorded a Group EBITDA of approximately USD 3.6 billion (EUR 3.3 billion) and a Group EBIT of around USD 1.9 billion (EUR 1.8 billion) during this period. The adjustment comes amid unexpected strong demand and improved freight rates.
The Executive Board now forecasts a Group EBITDA ranging from USD 4.6 to 5.0 billion, up from the previous range of USD 3.5 to 4.6 billion. Group EBIT is anticipated to be between USD 2.4 and 2.8 billion, an increase from the earlier estimate of USD 1.3 to 2.4 billion. In Euro terms, this reflects an expected EBITDA of EUR 4.2 to 4.6 billion and an EBIT of EUR 2.2 to 2.6 billion.
The company cautions that these projections remain uncertain due to volatile freight rates and geopolitical challenges. Final figures will be published on November 14, 2024.
