HDF Energy Signs MoU to Propel Sustainable Energy in the Philippines
Manila, Philippines – 22 July 2024 – Hydrogène de France (HDF Energy) has fortified its collaboration with the Department of Energy (DoE) and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to advance research and development in renewable energy and locally produced green hydrogen across the Philippines.
This MoU builds on previous collaborations and marks a significant step towards decarbonizing the Philippines' power sector. HDF Energy and its partners will focus on investments in renewable energy technologies, with an emphasis on hydrogen-based solutions.
The Philippines faces challenges in ensuring reliable electricity, especially in remote areas reliant on diesel grids. The partnership is expected to expedite the deployment of Renewstable® hydrogen power plants, which provide a green alternative by utilizing solar or wind energy and water to generate electricity.
HDF Energy is collaborating with Reurasia to accelerate these projects, leveraging strategic alliances to promote environmental sustainability. The agreement was signed by key representatives from DoE, MinDA, and HDF Energy, with notable figures such as the French Ambassador to the Philippines witnessing the event.
Statements from various stakeholders, including DoE Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla and MinDA Secretary Leo Tereso Magno, highlight the collective commitment to a sustainable energy future. HDF Energy aims to establish 15 projects in the Philippines, valued at USD 1.5 billion, with substantial support from local and national stakeholders.
