HiiiWAV Fest Overcomes City Budget Deficit to Launch Oakland’s 1st Music and Tech Festival June 8th
OAKLAND, CA / ACCESSWIRE / May 29, 2024 / HiiiWAV, a nonprofit incubator for Black artist-led music and tech startups, announces HiiiWAV FEST on June 8th. Held at 2781 Telegraph Avenue, this free outdoor event blends AI & VR technology with musical performances to celebrate Black creativity and innovation.
Despite a $170M budget deficit causing the delay of a city grant, HiiiWAV secured support within 48 hours from East Bay Community Foundation, Kapor Center, Tides Foundation, Meta, Kaiser Permanente, and Community Bank of the Bay. The event will continue, thanks to these sponsors.
HiiiWAV Fest is also the finale of HiiiWAV's AFRO AI MVP incubator. The top Black artist-led AI music tech startup will receive a $10,000 grant. Performers include The Pharcyde, Sol Development, and others. The festival will showcase new AI music technology and offer educational workshops on AI and music production.
