HUBER+SUHNER and Axjo Europe Foster Sustainability with Cable Drums

HUBER+SUHNER, alongside Swedish partner Axjo, has initiated a pilot project focused on sustainability in cable transportation. The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and resource use by promoting the collection, reuse, and recycling of plastic cable drums. Initially, this circular system targets customers in Germany, offering a free collection service for used drums.

Collaboration is key for HUBER+SUHNER to meet sustainability objectives. The partnership with Axjo provides logistical support, ensuring damaged drums are repaired and reused, enhancing their lifespan up to eight times. Once the drums reach the end of their lifecycle, they are processed into new products, aligning with the principles of a circular economy.

The service is managed via an application by Axjo, facilitating streamlined operations. This initiative not only decreases waste and emissions but also supports Axjo and HUBER+SUHNER's joint mission towards a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.
