HUBER+SUHNER Expands Production with New Optical Circuit Switch Facility in Poland

HUBER+SUHNER AG has announced the construction of a new manufacturing site in Pisary, Poland for their POLATIS optical circuit switch (OCS) portfolio. This expansion is driven by increased demand from AI-driven hyperscale data centers, which require advanced network solutions to manage high-volume, high-speed traffic with optimal energy efficiency.

The existing facility in Krzeszowice is operating at full capacity, prompting the need for this new 3,000 m2 state-of-the-art production site. Set to complete by late 2024, the site will notably incorporate sustainable features like air-source heat pumps, photovoltaic panels for solar power, and an in-house waste water treatment plant.

The Pisary facility will support the growing demand in AI data center markets, which rely heavily on efficient, high-capacity data handling technologies such as all-optical switching. All-optical switches improve network management by eliminating the need for electrical signal conversion, thus reducing power consumption and enhancing data processing speed.

COO Jürgen Walter emphasized the strategic importance of the POLATIS® portfolio, positioning it as a key element in developing future-ready data center architectures. The choice of Pisary leverages local technical expertise and established networks, ensuring a skilled workforce and strong supplier relations.
