I-RES Announces New CEO Appointment

Irish Residential Properties REIT plc (I-RES) declared the appointment of Eddie Byrne as CEO Designate effective from 8 April 2024. Eddie Byrne, bringing over 20 years of executive experience in the real estate sector, will take over from Margaret Sweeney on 1 May 2024. Sweeney announced her retirement plans in October 2023 after a tenure of six and a half years during which I-RES saw substantial growth under her leadership.

The selection of Byrne was the outcome of a thorough process started in November 2023, led by the Company’s Nomination Committee and Chair Hugh Scott-Barrett. Byrne's recent role was as Joint Managing Partner at Quintain Developments Ireland. He has a significant track record in increasing growth capital, managing large-scale transactions, and steering company strategy, especially in Irish and international real estates. He expressed enthusiasm about joining I-RES during a transformative period for the real estate sector.

Scott-Barrett commended Sweeney's contribution to I-RES's expansion and was confident Byrne's expertise would be beneficial for the company's strategic goals. Byrne looked forward to contributing to I-RES’s strategic review aiming to create shareholder value and leveraging opportunities to build on the company's success.
