IFAM Celebrates 20 Years of Promoting Global Folk Art
SANTA FE, NM – The International Folk Art Market (IFAM) announces its 20th annual event, taking place at Railyard Park from July 11 to July 14, 2024. Celebrations begin on July 10 with a free Community Celebration and Artist Procession.
This year, the market has selected 167 artists from 51 countries out of 571 applications, including first-time participant Papua New Guinea. Since its inception in 2004, IFAM has welcomed over 1,600 artists from 103 countries, aiding them in preserving traditional art forms and fostering community progress.
The market features two special tents: the Legacy Tent, highlighting artists who have participated since the market's beginning, and the Innovation Tent, showing how artists are evolving folk art. The event promises a rich selection of global artisans, music, and unique food options.
Additionally, the IFAM speaker series, titled The Eternal Present, will explore global artisan issues, while Community Day on July 14 will offer free access for everyone, thanks to state sponsorship and partnerships with local transit for convenient transportation.
