Implementation of a clinical study at I.CERAM
I.CERAM has received the green light from Professor Pascal Leprince for a pilot clinical study. This study will focus on a porous ceramic sternal stabilization implant, loaded with antibiotics. The objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of this implant, designed to stabilize the chest wall after a sternotomy and prevent infections. Ten implantations are planned in the cardiac surgery department of the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris.
This project, from the S2OP2CI program, hopes to integrate active molecules to improve osteointegration in an infected environment. Post-operative complications such as mediastinitis are at the heart of concerns, with complication rates varying according to studies. This device could potentially transform post-sternotomy care.
