International House UC Berkeley Appoints New Board Leadership
BERKELEY, CA / ACCESSWIRE / July 25, 2024 / International House Berkeley (I-House Berkeley) announced new board leadership for the 2024-2025 term. Key appointees include Vice Chancellor Marc Fisher as vice chair and new directors Laura Hassner, Will Cazalet, Tad Allen, and Jawahar Gidwani. These appointments align with I-House's mission to promote international and intercultural understanding as it approaches its centennial in 2030.
Vice Chancellor Fisher highlighted I-House's century-long impact on UC Berkeley students, noting its alumni's achievements in various high-profile roles globally. Fisher looks forward to working with the board to maintain I-House's influence on campus.
The I-House board, comprising 26 individuals connected to UC Berkeley, oversees the residence's operations and mission. I-House hosts nearly 600 students and scholars from over 70 countries, fostering intercultural respect, friendships, and leadership skills.
New board member Laura Hassner is the executive director of UC Berkeley Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Will Cazalet is a global investment strategist at Newton Investment Management. Tad Allen, an I-House alumnus, is of counsel for O'Melveny & Myers and serves on the California Civility Task Force. Jawahar Gidwani, also an alumnus, returns to the board as committee chair.
Executive Director Shaun Carver emphasized the significance of their collective expertise and its benefit to I-House's mission in nurturing a more understanding world through intercultural connections.
