INTILION Secures Second Largest Order From Purpel Energy for Energy Storage Systems
INTILION Aktiengesellschaft has received a significant order from Purpel Energy, marking the second largest in its history. This partnership focuses on the implementation of large-scale energy storage projects totaling 48 megawatt hours (MWh) across four locations in northern Germany. These outdoor systems, each with a 12 MWh capacity, are designed to enhance the integration of renewable energy sources and stabilize the public power grid.
The collaboration with Hamburg-based Purpel Energy positions INTILION as a one-stop solution provider, overseeing the project from planning and design through to the lifetime service of the energy storage systems. This includes installation, software programming and optimization, along with regular operational servicing.
Purpel Energy plans to use the energy from these scalecube-type systems in the balancing and spot energy markets, addressing the challenge of volatile electricity production from renewable sources. The projects aim to provide grid stability and leverage price advantages by storing electricity when costs are low and releasing it during peak price periods.
Construction of the four energy storage facilities is set to begin in fall 2024, with INTILION guiding the project from conception to completion. This partnership not only showcases INTILION's all-in-one solution but also underscores the technical expertise provided throughout the project's phases.
Tobias Berger, Managing Director at Purpel Energy, expressed pride in having INTILION as a partner, highlighting the comprehensive solution and technical expertise they bring to the table for large-scale energy storage projects.
