IONOS Awarded Contract to Develop On-Premise Cloud for German Federal Administration

On April 2, 2024, the German Federal Information Technology Centre (ITZBund) announced its decision to commission IONOS for the development of a private, on-premise enterprise cloud to be hosted within ITZBund's own data centers. This significant move is part of a five-year framework agreement aimed at bolstering the Federal Administration's IT capabilities and propelling its digital transformation efforts. IONOS CEO, Achim Weiß, highlighted the alignment of IONOS’s enterprise cloud solutions with ITZBund’s digital sovereignty and security-centric cloud-first strategy.

Christine Serrette, Technical Vice Director of ITZBund, recognized IONOS's competitive bid that demonstrated its competency in meeting their specialized architectural and operational needs through sample projects. IONOS is tasked with implementing an "air-gapped" cloud environment, offering a suite of services including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) without internet connectivity for enhanced security. This project positions IONOS as a key player in meeting the demanding security and operational requirements of federal IT projects.
