Julius Baer Advances in Sustainability with the Release of Multiple Reports and Update on Climate Strategy
Julius Baer Group Ltd., the leading Swiss wealth management group, announced the publication of its Annual Report 2023, Sustainability Report 2023, and Business Review 2023, along with an update on its climate strategy. These documents are now accessible on the company's website.
Emphasizing its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Julius Baer has been working towards its climate targets set in 2022, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050 for its treasury, lending, and mortgage books, and by 2030 for operational emissions. The Sustainability Report 2023 outlines near-term targets that align with the Paris Agreement, as validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The report also highlights measures to reduce carbon emissions, including implementing an internal carbon price on air travel in 2022. The proceeds from this initiative in 2023 were used to fund sustainable aviation fuel purchases and support reforestation projects in Indonesia and Panama.
Nic Dreckmann, CEO a.i. of Julius Baer, stressed the importance of sustainability for the next generation of clients, underscoring efforts to align investments with personal values. Yvonne Suter, Head of Sustainability, pointed out the critical role of reducing carbon emissions and the commitment to supporting long-term reforestation projects.
