Jungfrau Railway Group Achieves CHF 34.5 Million Profit in First Half of 2024
Jungfraubahn Holding AG has announced a successful first half of 2024. The company reported a profit of CHF 34.5 million, with operating income reaching CHF 141.8 million. Both the Jungfraujoch and Experience Mountains remained popular among guests despite challenging weather conditions.
Transport income rose to CHF 99.1 million, a 5.1% increase from the previous year. However, the increased use of the 'Swiss half fare card' by international visitors slightly affected transport income. Visitor numbers at Jungfraujoch increased by 9.8%, while the Experience Mountains saw a 35.4% rise in transport income.
The company recorded an EBITDA of CHF 62.0 million. The rising number of guests led to additional job creation and higher wage costs, which slightly reduced the profit. Sustainability efforts, such as energy-efficient buildings and solar power systems, remain a key focus for the company.
Despite global uncertainties, the Jungfrau Railway Group anticipates stable development in 2024. The succession plan for new CEO Oliver Hammel is set to take effect in the first half of 2025.
