Key Collaborator of Jaguar Health Joint Venture Magdalena Biosciences Receives Prestigious Alzheimer's Association Award
Magdalena Biosciences, a collaboration between Jaguar Health and Filament Health, is making significant advances in plant-based psychoactive medicines for mental health issues. On August 20, 2024, Jaguar Health announced that Eduardo Zimmer, Ph.D., a key collaborator, was awarded the 2024 Blas Frangione Early Career Achievement Award for his work in Alzheimer's and dementia research.
Dr. Karen Brunke, acting CEO of Magdalena, expressed excitement over the recognition. Zimmer's consultancy is pivotal to Magdalena's preclinical studies in Brazil, evaluating botanical drugs for treating depression, anxiety, and ADHD, using advanced neuroimaging techniques.
Dr. Zimmer holds multiple academic positions and has contributed immensely to understanding brain metabolism in Alzheimer's disease. Magdalena, partly owned by Jaguar, aims to develop safe, innovative plant-based psychoactive drugs for various mental health conditions.
