Kintetsu World Express Introduces Electric Vehicles in Thailand
KWE-Kintetsu World Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (KWE Thailand), a subsidiary of Kintetsu World Express, Inc., has launched Electric Vehicle (EV) trucks in a bid to reduce CO2 emissions and promote a decarbonized society.
The initiative involves five vehicles, including one van, two four-wheel trucks, and two six-wheel trucks, designated for pickup and delivery operations in Bangkok and Navanakorn. Charging stations will be established at KWE Thailand headquarters and the Navanakorn Distribution Center.
While EVs are gaining global popularity, they pose challenges such as range, maintenance, and recharging infrastructure. Thailand's government aims to increase the EV production share to 30% by 2030, potentially accelerating the EV shift.
The KWE Group targets a 35% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 from 2022 levels and aims for carbon neutrality by 2050. The company's sustainability initiatives also include the use of HVO-fueled trucks and switching to renewable energy sources.
