Knorr-Bremse Finalizes Acquisition of Alstom Signaling North America
Munich, September 2, 2024 – Knorr-Bremse has successfully completed the acquisition of Alstom Signaling North America's conventional rail signaling business. This transaction marks a significant stride in Knorr-Bremse's BOOST 2026 strategy, aimed at sustainable growth and long-term profitability.
The acquisition brings all signaling business activities, along with approximately 800 employees across six locations, into Knorr-Bremse's fold. This move positions Knorr-Bremse in the profitable North American rail signaling market, with the new unit specializing in Control, Command, and Signaling (CSS) technologies.
Marc Llistosella, CEO of Knorr-Bremse AG, emphasized that this market-leading and high-margin business aligns with the company's strategic objectives. Also, Dr. Nicolas Lange from Knorr-Bremse highlighted the importance of safety and reliability in rail transportation, which this acquisition supports.
The newly acquired business generated around EUR 300 million in revenues for the year ending March 2024, with an EBIT margin of about 16%. Knorr-Bremse plans to leverage its expertise to further develop and globalize its signaling solutions, aiming to become a Tier 1 partner in the rail industry.
