Krones AG Finalizes Acquisition of Injection Molding Firm Netstal

Krones AG has officially completed the acquisition of Netstal Maschinen AG (Netstal), a prominent injection molding technology manufacturer based in Näfels, Switzerland. This acquisition, first announced on February 7, 2024, follows the receipt of regulatory approval without any conditions. Netstal, which generated revenue exceeding €200 million in the financial year 2023 and employs around 560 workers, will be integrated into Krones’ Filling and Packaging Technology segment starting March 28, 2024. Despite its success, Netstal's operating profitability has been reported to be below Krones Group's average.

The acquisition marks a significant strategic milestone for Krones, fitting well with its ambition to broaden its product, technology, and service offerings in the beverage market, specifically in the PET preforms and closures sector. Moreover, Netstal’s technology complements Krones’ circular PET solutions, enhancing the group's capability from injection molding, bottle production, packing, and recycling. The inclusion of Netstal's technology, particularly in medical applications and thin-wall packaging, aligns with Krones’ strategy to diversify into new market sectors like medical/pharmaceutical, food, and body care.

Netstal will continue its operations autonomously, benefiting from Krones Group's global presence and scale. Efforts will be made to improve Netstal’s profitability to align it with the Krones Group over the medium term.
