KWE and IAG Cargo Expand Use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Kintetsu World Express, Inc. (KWE) announced an agreement with IAG Cargo to expand the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This move aims to reduce Scope 3 emissions in KWE's supply chain.

Under this agreement, KWE will purchase 640,000 liters of SAF environmental attributes. The SAF, certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), is produced from used cooking oil and food waste, reducing lifecycle emissions by over 90% compared to conventional jet fuel.

Nobutoshi Torii, President and CEO of KWE, emphasized the urgent need for decarbonization, highlighting SAF as the most effective way to reduce emissions from air freight transport. Saleem Saeed, Sustainability Manager at IAG Cargo, stated this partnership supports KWE’s efforts to address Scope 3 emissions.

KWE continues to seek opportunities to contribute to decarbonization actively.
