Law, Medicine, and Computer Science Lead Degrees with Top Entry-Level Salaries

DUESSELDORF, May 28, 2024 – Recent graduates in law, medicine, and computer science in Germany enjoy some of the highest entry-level salaries, according to a new analysis by The Stepstone Group. Legal, medical, and IT roles lead the pack, with lawyers (€61,750) and assistant doctors (€56,500) among the top earners.

IT and engineering positions are also lucrative. Information security officers (€57,750), data scientists (€54,750), and penetration testers (€54,000) are examples of top-paying IT jobs. Similarly, development engineers (€54,750), electrical engineers (€54,250), and process engineers (€52,500) represent high-earning engineering roles.

The study highlights that professionals with a university degree earn significantly more, with a median gross salary of €45,000 compared to €34,500 for those without a degree.

Automation and labor shortages are expected to further enhance the value of engineering and tech professions, underscoring their importance for Germany’s future workforce.
