Los Angeles Philharmonic Musician Jory Herman Announces New Album ‘Argonautical’ Featuring 5 Works by Female Composers
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / July 2, 2024 / Jory Herman, Los Angeles Philharmonic Double Bassist, announces the release of a new album on July 10, 2024. This album features his double bass skills alongside Marina Pacowski on piano. It marks Herman's fourth solo release, offering five works by female composers.
Herman's collaboration with Pacowski highlights their musical synergy. The album includes two world-premiere commissions and new arrangements for double bass. These pieces, composed by Jordan Jinosko and Mieke Doezema, demonstrate Herman’s dedication to expanding double bass repertoire.
The album, titled Argonautical, takes its name from Jinosko's work Argonauta. Other featured pieces include Gecko by Doezema, Romance by Amy Beach, and Recollection by Rachel Portman. Additionally, the album includes Hades by Mason Bynes.
Supported by the Harmon Lewis Memorial Collaborative Keyboard Artist Award and the Community Arts Grant from the City of Burbank, Argonautical will be available on major streaming platforms. Herman will perform recitals in Los Angeles in September to celebrate the release.
