Lower Saxony Top Preference for German Tourists This Summer: Traum-Ferienwohnungen
Bremen, Germany: As summer season rolls in, Traum-Ferienwohnungen, one of the leading online vacation rental platforms in Europe, has released insights into the travel behavior and preferences of German travelers. Based on the platform's booking and inquiry data, the report highlights key trends for summer travel in 2024.
In summer 2024, Lower Saxony stands out as the preferred destination for German tourists, thanks to its diverse geography, which includes pristine beaches and mountains. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein also remain popular. Bavaria ranks fourth, followed by Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg.
Internationally, the Netherlands is the top choice among German tourists, with Italy, Austria, Croatia, and Spain following. This contrasts with last summer when Nordic countries were more popular.
Despite a general slowdown in travel, German travelers are planning trips well in advance, with most bookings made 4-6 months ahead. The average length of stay has increased to 9 days from 6 days last year. Traditional holiday homes are the most preferred accommodation, followed by apartments and chalets. Swimming pools are the most sought-after amenity, followed by dishwashers, terraces, and balconies.
Gautam Swaroop, CEO of OYO Vacation Homes, commented that strong demand for holiday homes and longer trips indicate a promising outlook for the German tourism industry, potentially benefiting local economies throughout the peak season.
