Major Carbon Removal Initiative Announced by Anew Climate and Summit Carbon Solutions

Anew Climate, LLC, teamed up with Summit Carbon Solutions to market carbon dioxide removal credits from the groundbreaking Biomass with Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) project. This initiative aims to capture over 160 million tonnes of biogenic carbon emissions from more than 50 biorefineries across the Midwest United States within the next decade.

Angela Schwarz, CEO of Anew Climate, highlighted the project's scale and its expected demand among buyers seeking impactful climate solutions. Summit Carbon plans to sequester the annually captured emissions underground in North Dakota, contributing to bioethanol's sustainable development and asserting the project's significance in the carbon capture sector.

Leveraging a new methodology approved by the Gold Standard for the Global Goals, this project marks a milestone as the first tech-based CDR initiative over the 1 million metric tonne threshold. It will also assist bioethanol producers in entering emerging markets like Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Summit's CEO, Lee Blank, emphasized the role of Anew's expertise in maximizing the project's impact.
